One of the common conversations that healers have amongst themselves is around the semantics of saying "I heal people" vs. "Spirit heals people through me -- I am but a vessel, a channel, an instrument of God." Both tend to have value judgements attached, where the first is negative, and the second is positive.
Healers who say, "I heal people," sometimes suffer from hubris, or excessive pride, and their failings and flaws get pointed out and passed around by others.
Healers who say humbly, "I am but a channel for healing" tend to be more accepted -- and often genuinely are better healers than the prideful ones.
Why? Because to say, "I heal people," from a place of excessive pride means that one's ego is in the way, and is likely blocking that person from becoming an even better healer than s/he already is. Without a rigorous examination of our Shadows, and incompetencies, we cannot be whole, nor can we be as powerful or in the light as we might become.
And to say say, "I am a channel, a vessel, an instrument of the Divine" often creates a more powerful healer because that person has set aside their ego enough to get it out of the way enough to really allow the grace of God to flow through them.
But there is third option, that leads to even greater healings for oneself and others -- that of realizing one's own divinity. This is a state of full surrender to the divine, and requires active work to dissolve and release the ego. The more we can do that, the more divinity starts to become us.
